Historic Queensbury

In 1863, a local Queenshead man(Queensburys' name at the time), tried to change the name to Queenstown, but there was a lack of local enthusiasm for this name.

'Queenshead' was a name derived from the sign of the village's one and only alehouse which the villagers' agreed was unsuitable for a thriving hill-top village being named after a public house and eventually 'Queensbury' was the name adopted.
