Old Toll House near Copley Church.

Back entrance to Black Horse Inn, Hatters Fold, near the bottom of Woolshops.

John Dugan was Landlord of the Black Horse in Woolshops [1895, 1899].On 14th November 1899, he was declared bankrupt. The following day, a crowd gathered at the rear of the Black Horse. The police feared a riot, suspecting that the crowd were creditors wanting their money back. In fact, the people were queuing up to repay money which Dugan had loaned them.
