I was born and raised in Siddal where I lived until my marriage in 1968.
Both my parents were Siddal residents from birth, my Mother Annie Merrett (nee Glossop) was born in a cottage on Holts Terrace in 1903 and my father John Merrett was born down Jubilee Road in 1908. I was born in 1946, 10 years after my brother Roy. All the family were great supporters of Siddal Methodist Church and my brother and I were enthusiastic members of both the Life Boys and the Boys Brigade. They were very happy times which I remember with great fondness.
Due to career opportunities I left Halifax in 1979 and have lived all over the country since then, but Siddal remains the home of my heart.
